Happy Valentine’s Day

It’s Valentine’s Day, so I hope you all have a lovely holiday. Today I’m going to be hitting my local grocery store to buy the things I need to fix a special Valentine’s meal for the hubby. Today is the 20th anniversary of when he proposed. Picture me as a senior in college running around my dorm showing all my friends my sparkly new ring.

But today I also want to talk about my progress for the past week. I started a new tracking/exercise run Feb. 1, but I faltered a bit a couple of days in and really got serious last Monday. So how did the first true week back go?

* I lost 3.4 p0unds.

* I exercised between 1 hour and 20 minutes & 2 hours and 35 minutes each day except Saturday and Sunday when, eek, I didn’t exercise at all. Exercise included walking on treadmill, stepper block, dance aerobics, hand weights, stretch Band, and scrubbing bathrooms.

* My daily calorie count ranged from 1,354 to 1,829.

* My breakfast alternates between oatmeal with raisins or apples and an egg with 2-3 slices of turkey bacon.

It feels good to be back on track, even though I’ve stumbled a few times. I like that the number on the scale overall is going down, though it goes up and down from day to day.

    Aww – how lovely! We plan to have an evening out tonight.

    Off to a very unhealthy start as my lovely hubby made me my favourite as a Valentine’s treat – Creme Caramel! But, oh so worth it! I figure I might as well get all my sinning done on one day and back to normal tomorrow. At least there are no chocolates involved!

    YAY on the great start – weight loss and keeping track of your exercise and calories.

    That’s incredible, Trish! I’ve been on a new program, too. After a week and a half I finally lost *a* pound. A sad, lonely little pound. That I’m about to put right back on because dear sweet hubby went to Chick-fil-a and got heart-shaped chicken biscuits for everyone. Oh, well. Could you tell us a little more about some of your exercises next week? I’m especially curious about how you use the stepper block and stretch bands.

    • Sure, that’s a good idea for next week’s post.

      And heart-shaped biscuits! How cute is that.

      Don’t discount that pound. It’s one less than you weighed before and it’s not a pound gained. :)

  3. Congratulations, Trish!! Enjoy the holiday and anniversary of your proposal. :) What are you making tonight?

    • I got some ribs because hubby likes there, some meatballs, stuffed mushrooms, salad, lima beans (another of hubby’s faves), some potatoes (which I’ll be eating sparingly) and a low-cal banana pudding. And I got some dark chocolate chips that I’m going to melt and dip some strawberries and banana slices. I also found a recipe on Pinterest the other day for dipping strawberries in Greek yogurt and freezing the, so I’m going to try a few of those. And I’m off to fix the fruit now.
