On Tuesday night, The Biggest Loser held its live finale for the season, a final battle that came down to Ramon, Antone and John. But first we checked in with the other contestants to see what their final loss numbers were and who would be competing for the at-home prize. This time around, they did things a little differently. Instead of weighing everyone live, they did the weigh-ins previous to the finale. Alison brought the contestants out in groups of four, and each group had one person whose percentage of weight loss put them in the top three for the at-home competition. Only those three people weighed in live.
Those three players were Vinny, Patrick and Jennifer. Vinny ended up losing 184 pounds, Patrick lost 151 and Jennifer lost 145. Jennifer’s percentage of weight loss was 43.94 percent, making her the $100,000 prize winner.
A couple of interesting stats from the finale:
* Together the players lost more than 1,500 pounds.
* Dr. Huizenga told the three finalists that collectively they’d gained back 54 years of life with their losses.
The final weigh-in looked like this:
Ramon went from 355 pounds down to 201, a loss of 154 pounds (43.38 percent).
Antone went from 447 pounds down to 245, a loss of 202 pounds (45.19 percent).
John went from 445 pounds down to 225, a loss of 220 pounds (49.43 percent), making him the winner.
For the next couple of weeks, there won’t be any Biggest Loser recaps. But the show returns with a new season Jan. 3, so I’ll be back to recapping on Jan. 4.
What did you think of the finale? Who do you think looked the best?
Some of the ladies looked really good – as did some of the men. Jennifer’s face almost looked funny with all that weight gone – a little old or haggard maybe? The playup of her crush on Bob was pretty darn funny.
In some ways, I was glad Antone did not win the $ because I just think he’s pretty set financially. Of the 3, Ramon probably needed it most.
I’m a bit worried that John is a good candidate to gain a lot of the weight back. I think he was so hyper focused on winning that it allowed him to ignore the demons that helped him gain all that weight in the first place. They may come back out to bite him so to speak.
Your assessments of the final three are how I feel for the most part too.
I was actually a little uncomfortable with the whole crush on Bob thing. A little would have been funny, but this was a bit awkward.
I can see how the Bob crush thing could have been awkward. At least, Jen is self-aware of it. At times, it did not think like she was on the ranch.
I do not know this for a fact, but I really think Bob is in a committed relationship with another man – especially after the blonde hostess made an offhand comment along the lines of what would Rob? think of bob’s announcement w/ Jen. At least I think I heard that. I could be way off on all this.
Hi Trish, I’m wondering now what’s the record for the most weight lost by a winner in the history of Biggest Loser?
And what’s up with Bob? When he gave Jenifer the bouquet of flowers he said they had an announcement, but it never materialized. ???
Next season is supposed to be different with no partners or teams or something?
I hope that with John’s wife needing to lose weight it will give him something to focus on. I could see him using the money to open his own fitness center, he’ll be the drill sergeant!
I’ve enjoyed your cometary after each episode.
Christy, I think the announcement comment from Bob was just a joke. Sort of like, “Well, Ramon and Jess don’t have an announcement but, surprise, Jennifer and I do. Okay, not really.”
Yeah, next season family members come in pairs but are told, I think early on, that they will be competing against each other as individuals.
I really do hope that John will help his wife get fit and healthy now too. They do really seem to love each other a lot, which is sweet.
